Slowing Down is the Key to Happiness and Peace

From the moment we wake to the time we retire, we are in a state of anxiety and worry, trying to get as much done as possible, leading a frenzied state of life. We now have faster PCs, sophisticated gadgets, faster cars, PDAs, intended to make our life easier. But our life on other hand seems to get more and more complicated. Is the present mode of our lives taking us to the place we envisioned of? The one of bliss and peace. Definitely not.

By rushing, we are in fact, rushing towards our own graves. Just take a look back at our ancestor’s lives. Even though they didn’t have access to the galore of gadgets and technologies that we have at the moment, they were far more healthier, blissful and peaceful than us. Also, when you observe the people around you, you’ll often find that those who are the happiest, in all probability, lead an unhurried lifestyle. They never appear to be in a hurry to achieve things and they seem to have all the time in this world. Supporting this view was one of the Pew Research Polls in which almost half the respondents who admitted being very happy, never felt rushed.

So stop hurrying and start living!

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. - Lao Tzu

Remember the great adversity of art or anything else is a hurried life. - Robert James Waller
