Fear of Success?
Well, there is something known as the fear of success. You may feel that only a foolish person can have the fear of success and that success is to be enjoyed and cherished and exalted in. But truth can be stranger than fiction at times and what appears on the surface may not be what lies within.
There are many reasons why you tend you block off your own success, especially when you are so close to it. You will appreciate and see yourself nodding your head when these are elucidated. As you get closer to you goal, there is a higher possibility that other people will notice that you have reached thus far and are likely to comment about what you have achieved. They may be jealous about the fact that you are this close to attaining you goal. This emotion in them is likely to bring out negative remarks from them with regards to what you have accomplished. They may belittle your goal itself and make you feel that it is not worth striving for or make little of your efforts. They may even resort to superficial and baseless remarks about how you have been lucky in achieving what you have belittling your efforts in the process.
Don’t let this negative talk effect you in any way. You cannot afford to let yourself fall prey to the shenanigans of irresponsible people at this stage. You have conquered your self-confidence and self-esteem and have been able to motivate yourself to reach a certain stage using positive talk and telling yourself that ‘you can do it’. The most upsetting thing would be to let go.
The last hurdle in the race is likely to ‘seem’ higher than the others. I say ‘seem’ because in fact it is not and it is only being perceived as more difficult because you start to believe that you are tired and fatigued in having come this far. If you are truly motivated and charged up and full of positive thoughts, you will be able to brush these thoughts aside and take the last hurdle in your stride, just like you have all the other that you have left behind. Change the way you think about ‘success’ and give yourself that last lap fillip that is required.
The most mysterious aspect about the fear of success comes from within. After having worked hard to attain your goal for so long you can probably see it standing just a few paces away within arms length. At this time you may start to wonder ‘I have been working for this for so long and now I am going to achieve it. But once I achieve it, what will I do after that? I will become redundant’. The fear of having nothing to do after you have achieved your goal is a subconscious thought and you need to be aware of it to be able to tackle it effectively. Tell yourself that you have earned the break that you will get after accomplishing what you want and also know that your creative mind shall think of new challenges to gun for after the break.
